Students of Al-Amal College for Specialized Medical Sciences Publish Scientific Research in a Global Scopus-Indexed Journal
In a remarkable scientific achievement added to the prestigious record of academic successes at Al-Amal College for Specialized Medical Sciences, a number of fifth-year students from the Pharmacy Department successfully published their scientific research paper titled:
"Comparative Analysis of Classical and Emerging Experimental Animal Models of Liver Injury"
The paper was published in the global journal Applied Toxicology, which is indexed within the rigorous Scopus databases.
This accomplishment was achieved under the direct supervision of Asst. Lect. Ibtihal Naseer Salman, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mahmoud Khalifa, and with the active participation of Pharmacy Department students: Zain Al-Abidin Ahmed, Abeer Mehdi, Aseel Yas, Malak Alaa, Ali Majid, Mustafa Wafi, and Mehdi Abdul Amir.
The research addresses one of the most prominent challenges facing modern medical research in the field of liver diseases, which cause approximately two million deaths annually worldwide. This global health impact makes selecting the appropriate animal models to accurately simulate human disease a fundamental issue in developing effective treatments.
The researchers presented a comprehensive scientific comparison of 18 animal models used in liver injury research, based on 12 precise scientific criteria, alongside designing a smart decision tree that helps researchers select the most suitable model depending on the specific type of injury under study. Furthermore, the research integrated Omics sciences and Organoids technologies to enhance the accuracy of the results and bring them closer to real human responses.
The findings of this research are expected to contribute to reducing the failure rates of laboratory experiments and accelerating the development of innovative treatments for liver diseases, thereby reflecting positively on global medical efforts aimed at improving patient healthcare.
This outstanding achievement embodies the advanced scientific level attained by the students of Al-Amal College for Specialized Medical Sciences. It also reflects the College's dedication to supporting scientific research and continuously encouraging its students to publish in rigorous international journals, thereby enhancing its academic standing and prominent presence in international scientific forums.
